Karen Blanchard joined St. Peter Catholic School in August of 2007 as a first grade teacher. She was born in New Orleans, LA and raised in Arabi. She earned a Bachelors degree in Family Life and Environment from Louisiana State University. After completing her undergraduate degree, she taught Pre-Kindergarten at Lynn Oaks School in Braithwaite, LA for 10 years. She then taught Kindergarten at St. Robert Bellarmine School in Arabi, LA for the 1993-94 school year before starting the Pre-Kindergarten program there in August of 1994. She later earned an elementary teaching certification through postgraduate work from the University of New Orleans and began teaching in the 4th grade in August of 1999. Mrs. Blanchard taught at St. Robert Bellarmine until Hurricane Katrina hit St. Bernard Parish in August of 2005. She then got a job as a 3rd grade aid in January of 2006 at St. Pius X in New Orleans, and was hired on as a 4th grade teacher in August of that same year. In 2007, her family decided to move to Covington, and she was fortunate enough to land a job teaching first grade at St. Peter Catholic School. “I love teaching children and discovering God’s world through their eyes.”
